James, Wade, and Spoelstra: Now What?

As of right now the coaching situation in Miami is very much up in the air. We know that LeBron and Wade held a players only meeting. We know that Coach Spo and LeBron had a 30 minute private meeting before last nights game, and we also know that Wade did not really defend Spo when he had the chance. So what happens now?

LeBron and Wade have to be the ones to hold the team together during this time. These guys have more than enough leadership experience to take charge and lead this team through the next few weeks. We know Wade and James are not happy with Spo, and we know that they both have the power to have him removed from his position if need be. These two men really stepped up last night in the victory over the Wizards, and I expect that type of play to continue.

I know no one has officially announced termination yet, but I don't think that Spo will be on the bench much longer. Quite frankly, he is stuck between too many great people and it is proving to be too much for him to handle. I do not think Pat Riley wants to step down from his position to go coach the team, but I do know that he has the heart of a champion and wants to win by any means necessary. He will, sooner or later, come down and lead this team. Spoelstra is having his chance now, but Pat Riley will not let this type of talent maintain this type of record much longer.

For now, we just have to wait and see what happens. Miami is more than capable of winning the next 10 games straight (which may save Spoelstra's job). At the same time, however, each loss brings the Heat closer and closer to a new coach.

The Heat take on the Pistons tomorrow night. For Erik Spoelstra, this week may be his last chance.

Get em.
