Dampier signed, Stackhouse Waived
It is now official. Jerry Stackhouse is out, and Erick Dampier is in. Dampier is a 14-year NBA veteran who has seen his share of basketball games. He provides a strong inside presence and could definitely be helpful on the boards. It is just a shame to see Stackhouse go. I really liked this guy and would had loved to see him get a championship ring. However, the NBA is a business, and the Miami Heat made a business decision. Dampier practiced with the team today, and seemed like he was in pretty solid shape (all things considered). I know he is up there in age, but Z has proven that older players can still be effective. I am curious to see what Erick can do on the court. Stackhouse had not been preforming thus far this season, and Dampier could be the change that the Heat need. As much as I love Stackhouse, I think it was the right decision to go for Dampier. We will see how this one plays out.
